The evolving world of procurement; are you fit for the future?

Overview

The evolving world of procurement; are you fit for the future?

The world is changing at an ever increasing pace, with shifts in markets happening at lightening pace; technological developments offering new solutions to old challenges and creating demands on our supply chains from distribution to the social and economic. The political uncertainties present even more challenges to our increasingly complex supply chains and traditional product life cycles have been replaced by a phenomenon where products, services and solutions seem to super-nova in and out of existence. So how does procurement keep up with all of this and continue to add value for the business and its customers?

Now, more than ever, the profession needs to be fit for the future. The traits of procurement leaders are evolving, EI and communication skills are playing an increasingly important role, disruption is no longer the buzz word – it’s everyday reality. This event will look at the challenges and opportunities presented by these change drivers and provide insights into how procurement can become the architect of innovation. Senior practitioners from leading organisations will explore the theme of advancing the need for agile procurement. Speakers

Mark Lamb - General Manager, CIPS Australasia

He has worked across various industries for more than 25 years in various management roles, both locally and globally, with a range of experiences in different environments including procurement. Originally in banking, he transitioned to more broadly based financial services focusing initially on insurance and risk management. He has held a number of strategy and consulting roles, especially in relation to key areas such as leadership and team building, with proven business, strategy and operation skills. Much of his consulting was focused on the areas of professionalism - quality improvement and change management – both internally and externally. He has assisted many organisations to transition into new strategies and methodologies.

Many years of management consulting experience with a professional consulting services firm taught him key analytical skills as well as the importance of applied research. He also learnt the importance of developing teams through leadership, interpersonal and people management skills. In addition, working as a management consultant taught him how to develop strategies for companies by identifying and capitalising on competitive advantage.

Joerg Wienke - Vice President Contracting & Procurement Downstream

Joerg joined Shell Information Technology in 1991; by degree he is a Computer Scientist in combination with Economics. He later spent three years in Marketing with the Chemicals business. He became General Manager for Retail in DACH (Germany, Austria & Switzerland).

Joerg then spent 2 years working in the “Downstream One” organizational change project including clustering country businesses in Europe, rolling out standardized global processes to reduce cost and complexity, introducing new technology such as the Global SAP system as well as driving behavioural change. In 2014 he was appointed global VP Downstream Operational Excellence.

Joerg took on the role of Vice President Contracting & Procurement Downstream in February, 2017. He is married with two daughters and in his spare time enjoys sports such as sailing, swimming, skiing and rowing.
