Overview

Passion for procurement - Managing the talent in your procurement team

Following the first two hugely successful Passion for Procurement member events where we concentrated on the hot topics of Digital Procurement and Modern Day Risk, we now turn our attention to your procurement teams.

It has long been acknowledged that most people fall into procurement and as part of the CIPS strategy we have been concentrating on bucking this trend and encouraging procurement to be seen as a Profession of Choice. Working in conjunction with Hays recruiting experts in procurement we have for the third year produced our salary guide and insights report, which looks at procurement as a career plus the view of procurement within the organisation and salaries.

Scott Dance, Director at Hays Procurement will offer advice gained from his many years of experience in recruiting for the profession as well as presenting the findings from the report.

Group Marketing Director at CIPS, Cath Hill, shows how by combining good marketing practice and emotional intelligence, procurement professionals can use these skills to influence both stakeholders and suppliers.

The Supply Century white paper that was launched at the CIPS UK Conference in October will be explored by both Gerry Walsh FCIPS, the new CIPS CEO and Andrew Coulcher FCIPS, Group Membership and Knowledge Director. Looking at trends and how procurement will change over the next few years strategically and the opportunities that this will offer those working in the profession.

Finally, one of the CIPS Supply Management Award Winners will present their entry to the Best People Development Initiative.

Our thanks go to Bristol University for hosting at the iconic Wills Memorial Building.

Following the event, there will be an optional tour of the tower. Places are limited and allocated on a first come first served basis, and a donation of £4 pp will be requested. Information will follow regarding the tour once you have booked your place.
