CIPS have acquired complimentary places for members to The NHS Procurement Conference 2017 will be on 19 April 2017 at Old Trafford Stadium, Manchester.

The Conference will provide insights into how your organisation can save money while still guaranteeing the best quality products. Learn how changes in policy will effect procurement in the future and how to help reduce NHS spending at a time when resources are scarce.

We have received funding which gives North of England Commercial Procurement Collaborative upto 4 complementary places to attend this training with us on 19th April 2017, here at the University of Salford.

In his independent 2016 report into the Department of Health, Lord Carter concluded that the NHS could save £700 million a year by reducing the variety of products and eliminating inconsistencies in pricing. As a first step the NHS will roll out a set of standardised products, including gloves and needles, from early 2017. By using the combined purchasing power of NHS trusts to procure these items, it is estimated that the health service will save up to £100,000 a year. But more needs to be done.

We will be covering:

  • An update on the progress made off the back of the Carter review: what have been the biggest successes
  • Co-operation and co-ordination
  • A better understanding of how procurement can work for you and your long term strategy goals
  • Delivering a procurement strategy alongside service improvement
  • Raising the profile and use of eProcurement, developing a standardized approach across networks and adopting the GS1 and PEPPOL standards
  • Examining where spending can be reined in on staffing and getting a handle on agency costs
  • Pursuing a policy of improved collaborative working to maximize upon partnerships
  • Removing barriers to the procurement process and delivering quicker and more effective resolutions
  • Procurement Transformation Programme
  • Using data and eProcurement
